Talking Tuesday

Hey everyone! I want to start a talking Tuesday. Basically what I will do is just talk (or in this case- type). There will be no pictures or anything but hopefully that's okay. So here we go!

I am so exited today. I found an amazing nail polish deal. I'm not talking polishes like Wet n Wild ( not that anything is wrong with these, I have tons) but OPI which are usually out of my price range because I don't have a job.

I started off the day by going to a little hair salon in the mall to look at their clearance OPI polishes. The thing was they actually had all of their OPI polishes for buy one get two free. They didn't have much of a selection because it was nearing the end of the week so I only left with three( THREE GORGEOUS COLORS). The ones I picked out were: Just Spotted the Lizard, Number One Nemesis, and Pink Friday. I was so excited that I want to go back this weekend.

I found a DUPE!

In the world of nail polish it is easy to find yourself having some nail polishes that are the same color. We call them dupes. Today I have a "dupe" for you. These two polishes are very similar, not exact dupes but close enough to have one or the other.

OPI Siberian Nights vs. Wet n Wild Megalast Disturbia

Now of course, there are some obvious differences. One being that Siberian Nights is a cream and Disturbia has a slight shimmer. Another is that Disturbia is a tad bit lighter. But to someone that doesn't know to much about nail polish- they are the same color.

Here is Disturbia.

Here is Siberian Nights.

The choice is yours. Do you want to pay less or more? Do you want a cream or a shimmer?

I also wanted to inform everyone that this will probably be the only post you will see this week. It is time for midterms which means studying is key. I will still do my nails and include them in a post next week. Until then, Bye!

Acid Wash Nails!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. I took an unexpected trip where there was no wifi. Hopefully this post will make ip for lost time.

It's finally here! Today I attempted my first acid wash nails and I think I was pretty successful. For my base color I used Sinful Colors Precious Metal. Precious Metal is a deep blue metallic shimmer. And for my white I used Spoiled by Wet n Wild's Correction Tape.

Jen from polishandpearls.com has an amazing tutorial for this. If you have never visited her blog or youtube channel (missjenfabulous), you should go ahead and jump over there to see how I did this awesome manicure.

Here is the finished result of my version.

Disco Ball Mani

I used Sinful Colors Heavy Metal and LA Colors Silver Glitter for today's nails. Heavy Metal is a silver metallic shimmer that I just love. I purchased it a couple weeks ago when Walgreens was running a sale on them for 99 cents (haul post coming soon!). Silver Glitter is just that, silver glitter. It is such a great glitter polish that I would choose it over China Glaze Techno any day.

Here is the NOTD.

Good Karma

I love this color! Although it is more of a summer color, I had to try it out as well as see how I like the Spoiled by Wet n Wild collection. Well, I love it! Everything about it is amazing. The brush is wide, it is opaque in two coats, and it is only $1.99 at CVS. I am not such a big fan of it being a CVS exclusive because the closest CVS is about 15 minutes away. But for these polishes, it is worth the ride.

Here is a swatch of Good Karma. The pictures below are two coats and no topcoat.

DIY Caviar Manicure

Color Club Edie. Oh what can I say about you. Although I love the shade of green/blue, I absolutely hated the application. I have never worked with Color Club until now but if they are all like this... I am not a fan! I am still willing to try.

Here is a swatch of Edie alone. For the pictures below I did 3 coats of Edie followed by a coat of Seche Vite.

I wanted a little texture so I decided to do a caviar manicure on my ring finger. I used microbeads that I purchased at Michael's in the scrapbook section.

This is the final result.

TuTu Cute and Innocent

Today I have an easy manicure that could take up a little time if your a rookie like me. I started off with a basecoat followed by two coats of ULTA's TuTu Cute (light purple cream). I then taped off three quarters of my nail. Then I swiped a coat of Sinful Colors Innocent (lime green cream).

I also used Innocent to do som free hand on the purple side of my nail followed by a stripe of Sinful Colors Heavy Metal down the middle. For a top coat I used Seche Vite.

I am really proud of the final result.

Sorry for the camera quality. Sometimes it works great and others it doesn't. Let's just say I will be trying to find a new one that works very good ALL the time.
